History of Canaan Bible Chapel

vintage images
The church was built on the current location in 1973. But the body of believers who are the foundation of Canaan Bible Chapel can be traced back to 1810 when a traveling or "circuit" minister visited the small congregation in South Canaan once a month to hold services. In between, elders and lay people conducted worship services and prayer meetings in homes.

Over the years as the congregation grew it merged with other local worshippers and built the first church in 1823. Since that time, God has continued to lead His people in providing a place for Christians to worship and serve their Lord. While the buildings and location changed, the Word of God continues to go forth with the same zeal and devotion as that of their founders.
