Professors, Lima Baptist Theological Seminary
International Training Consultant - Baptists For Life
David and Evelyn joined ABWE in 1978, and have invested the past 33 years in church planting ministries in Coastal Peru. For nearly 12 years they worked in the provincial coastal desert city of Ica. Their ministries included leadership training at the Ica Baptist Bible Seminary; overseeing the Springs in the Desert Bible camp; and establishing the Living Hope Baptist Church in Subtanjalla.
Following God's leading to the capitol city of Lima in 1992, they opened their home to begin and build the "Chapel on the Rock" in La Capilla, a fast-growing new development of Lima. The Chapel continues to grow and reach out under the leadership of a Peruvian pastor. In 2005 the Stones teamed up with their son and a Peruvian pastor to begin the Living Hope Baptist Church, this time in an old, elite section of the city, San Isidro.
Baptist Theological Seminary has been established in Lima to train pastors, missionaries, teachers and counselors for these and other churches. David is the treasurer, Evelyn directs the department of Biblical Counseling and both serve on the faculty.
In 1999, Evelyn established the New Life Prenatal Center in Lima, Peru, that reaches thousands of women in crisis each year. This unique dynamic evangelistic compassion ministry has grown to 7 centers in Peru. Pastors and missionaries in other countries have been watching the growth of the pregnancy care center ministries in Lima. As a result, Evelyn has been invited to travel to various countries to train others to reach the lost in similar ways. As International Training Consultant for Baptists For Life, Evelyn has traveled to Ecuador, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, India, Kenya, Liberia and the Philippines. She has an active conference ministry, speaking in churches and schools on the sanctity of life and sexual purity.
David and Evelyn have three children and five grandchildren. Jonathan and Angela Stone are ABWE missionaries in Peru. Lisa and Matthew Leahy work in Ohio. Christina is a teacher at a Peruvian Christian School.
