Release Time at Local Schools
The law in a number of states, including PA, stipulates that children (with written aprroval from their parent or guardian) be released during school time for religious instruction. This takes place at an area church or building. All of the elementary schools in Wayne County, PA are involved in this and Bob Longenecker and John Kornbau of Child Evangelism Fellowship (along with a number of teachers and helpers) travel many miles each week to cover that territory. Every five years the lessons are repeated and the ages range from first through fifth grade. This year began with Genesis and just finished the lives of the PATRIARCHS.
Currently, students are studying GOD'S WORD AND ME which begins with the life of William Tyndale. The children are encouraged to learn a memory verse each week pertaining to the lesson. The gospel is also presented each week and most of the children profess their faith in Christ during this special time of the week.
Good News Clubs and Backyard Bible Clubs
Another area of outreach is after school Good News Club programs at several of the elementary schools. Each summer they run a number of weekly day camps. One of them is held at a local farm in South Canaan. These camps are always well attended and the kids have great fun as they learn God's Word.
During the summer they also run Back Yard Bible Clubs that are taught by summer missionaries. These young people are trained for two weeks at our PA, CEF Headquarters and many go on to Bible College and become full time Christian workers!
Training for all these activities is available through Child Evangelism Fellowship.
